New Aloha Stadium

New Aloha Stadium Seating Bowl

New Aloha Stadium - Overhead with Roof

This is my drawing for a New Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The current Aloha Stadium is corroding and rusting badly, and I think this design would be more appropriate for college football than their current convertable football/baseball stadium that can't convert any more. It would also be a much better college bowl facility, and may intice the Pro Bowl back to Hawaii. There has been talk of a new stadium in Honolulu to replace the current one, but reports are throwing around numbers like $500 million. I don't know what they have in mind, but that is too much for a college football stadium. Minnesota had theirs built for about $280 million, and this seat bowl design would be similar.

Total capacity would be 52,500, with 25,000 seats in the lower bowl, 26,500 in the upper bowl, and the rest in 20 suites and the press box. I don't think this stadium needs to be overloaded with suites; it hosts WAC football, an annual bowl game and some concerts. The grandstand seating would be designed in a split bowl like in Minnesota, with stairwells leading from the concourse directly to the front of the upper bowl sections. The entire lower bowl and the sideline seats in the upper bowl would be full chairback individual seats, while the rest of the upper bowl would be bench seating. I designed a roof with green supports in the corners to provide some cover, because it rains quite a bit in Hawaii.

This was a stadium I just did this evening, it actually only took a couple hours and turned out really well. I hope you like it.

Manitoba Centre

Manitoba Centre - Football Configuration

Manitoba Centre - Hockey Configuration

A reader suggested to me a stadium drawing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Canadian Football League team, so here it is. The stadium would be an indoor domed stadium which would seat 37,500 in the football configuration. The lower level would have 24 rows surrounding the playing field and the upper level would have 23 rows in a horseshoe configuration. There would be 42 suites, 14 along the sideline and 28 in the end zone as part of the hockey configuration.......

Yes the hockey configuration. I know that Winnipeg already has the MTS Centre, which was built not long ago and just slightly too small for NHL hockey. The NHL is going to move back north, be it Hamilton, Winnipeg, or Quebec. My thought is that if we're going to the trouble to design a new stadium for the Blue Bombers, why not make it work as a higher capacity hockey arena too? The Jets (I assume that would be the name for the NHL franchise) could play most regular games at the MTS Centre, but could play Saturday Nights, games against Edmonton, Calgary, playoff games, etc. at the Manitoba Center. This configuration would have 22,000 seats, and would have very good sightlines for hockey. The sideline football stands would retract, allowing the East endzone stands to be moved into a complete bowl configuration in the West half of the stadium. Red seats on retracting risers would complete the seating all the way down to ice level.

This seems pie in the sky, but NBA teams have used dual venues in the past, and this would be a novel way to get around the capacity problem at the MTS Centre. This venue would also be a good, intimate football stadium. The stadium would also provide over 150,000 square feet of floor space for exhibitions with the sideline seats retracted, making this a very versatile venue.

Forthbank Stadium (Stirling Albion v Clyde)

Today I took the bus from Glasgow to the city of Stirling to pay my first visit to Forthbank Stadium, the ground of Stirling Albion FC. Just like two weeks ago when I went to Fort William I made use of the Sunday Mail offer (return to anywhere in Scotland for a fiver) but the train costs only a fraction more. The bus station is adjacent to the railway station and it takes about 20 minutes to walk to the stadium (using the newly built pedestrian bridge over the railway tracks). Stirling is a great place to visit of course but the weather was horrendous today. Torrential rain made me worried that this game would be postponed again however it turned out it went ahead as planned.

I decided to support Clyde today as a I have a bit of a soft spot for them. Also because they were the underdogs against league leaders Stirling Albion I took a seat in the East Stand. The ground, which opened in 1993, is small but the capacity of 3,800 (2,500 of which are seats) is more than adequate for Stirling. The West Stand is slightly bigger than the East Stand. There are terraces behind both goals as well but it is my understanding that they are seldom in use. Although I would normally prefer a terrace over a stand the fact that these are uncovered means I would not have opted for them anyway.

The game was an entertaining affair. Albion unsurprisingly had the better chances in the first half but were unable to find the net and Clyde were lucky to have not conceded a goal by half-time. It was the Bully Wee however who opened the score when Willie Sawyers found the net in the 57th minute. Stirling frantically looked for the equaliser but it looked like this was not their day, particularly when they had a goal disallowed for offside. However substitute Liam Corr scored the deserved equaliser in the 88th minute.

Approaching Forthbank on a miserable day.

Lionel Messi

Lione Messi was born in Rosario on 24 juny 2987.Lionel Messi is Argentina footballer, who currently plays as a second striker for FC Barcelona. He has shown remarkable ability for a young player, and often mentioned in the media as "the new Diego Maradona"

Messi began playing football at a young age and his potential was quickly identified by Barcelona. He left Rosario-based Newell's Old Boys's youth team in 2000 and moved with his family to Europe, as Barcelona offered treatment for his growth hormone deficiency. Making his debut in the 2004-05 season, he broke the La Liga record for the youngest footballer to play a league game, and also the youngest to score a league goal. Major honors soon followed as Barcelona won La Liga in Messi's debut season, and won a double of the league and UEFA Champions League in 2006. His breakthrough season was in 2006-07: he became a first team regular, scoring a hat-trick in El Clásico and finishing with 14 goals in 26 league games. Perhaps his most successful season was the 2008-09 season, in which Messi scored 38 goals to play an integral part in a treble winning campaign.

Lionel Messi will be the best player Europe this year???

New Colisee de Quebec

There have been some discussions about a team moving to Quebec. One lucky Canadian city is going to get an NHL team in 2010, and I think Quebec has a good chance, based on the pretty good attendance the Nordiques used to get. So this is a drawing for a new arena in Quebec City, Quebec. It would seat 18,800 and have standing room for 500 more, for a total capacity of 19,300. The arena would have 54 suites, above the lower bowl. The upper deck would have 9,400 seats and the lower level would have 8,600 seats, including 1,080 club seats.

why we love football (soccer)

Why football became a popular sport in the world??

What is the reason??

There are many reasons why soccer is very popular around the world. However, the most important thing is that football is very exciting. When we play football we can do fun things like playing with friends, create a goal, win a game, make new friends and much more. Besides football can be done by anyone who wants to play it. Besides football is not only done by men but also can be done by women.

When we watch a football game we can enjoy because we can see the action-cation is amazing, goal-a beautiful goal, and sometimes we can really laugh when things happen are funny.

So why do you like football??

Broadwood Stadium (Clyde v Man Utd XI)

Today I went to Cumbernauld to see Clyde take on a Manchester United select in a friendly at Broadwood Stadium. After an 11-minute train journey from Glasgow Queen Street I got off at Croy. From there it is a 20-minute walk to Broadwood, a modern ground that was opened in 1995. An interesting bit of trivia is that Broadwood is the highest ground in Scotland (in terms of altitude). The capacity is about 8,000 divided over three stands. There is no stand at the northern end of the ground, and it looks like there will never be one either as a leisure centre has now been built at this end. There does not seem to be a need to expand the ground anyway, only 663 witnessed the Bully Wee losing 3-1 to Peterhead yesterday.

There were a few more in attendance today but still by far no full house. There was a sell-out crowd when Clyde entertained the Red Devils in July 2005. Today however it was not Sir Alex's first team showing up but Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's reserve squad. Nevertheless the Reds proved much too strong for the Scottish part-timers who counted themselves lucky to be only 4-0 down when the referee blew the final whistle.
