Nepal qualifies for ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup

Nepali Team enters the finale of ACC U-19 Elite Cup cricket tournament today (Tuesday) by beating Qatar by 6 wickets at AIT Ground in Bangkok. This had opened the doors for Nepali team to global Youth World Cup (ICC U-19 World Cup).

Nepal stole the game and reached the victory target of 114 in 20 overs as Naresh Budayer scored unbeaten 41 and Pradeep Airee hit two sixes.

Nepal will now face Afghanistan (the same country that had beaten Nepal in semifinal, two years ago) in the final at TCG on 10th of February. If won, this will be the fifth time Nepal will win the title.

Brief scorecard: Qatar 113 all out in 47 overs (Saad Khan 26, Omar Istiaq 22*, Rahul BK 4/20, Bhuwan Karki 2/12) lost to Nepal 119 for 4 in 20 overs (Naresh Budayer 41*, Sagar Pun 36, Faljur Khan 19, Pradeep Airee 12*) by 6 wickets.

With all good news, our captain Prithu Baskota has been injured and wouldn’t make it to the finale. He will have to rest for three weeks to heal the ligament he tore during the match.

Well done Nepali Team! You have made all of us proud. The title should be ours now! We wish you all the best for the finale.
