Carling cup rules, unlike FA cup, only one match will be played, draw match will be decided on extra time and
penalty shoot-out.
Liverpool FC needs to try and finish the game during 90 minutes or even at extra time to avoid embarrassment they suffered last season after being knocked out by Northampton in third round. Liverpool have strengthen their squad by signing Charles Adam, Alexander Doni, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson and hope to perform better this season.
In the last Carling cup match, Sheff Wed beat Blackpool 4-2 on penalty after 0-0 score in 120 minutes and they will play Blackburn on second round.
