New Oakland Coliseum- Football Configuration
This is my second stadium drawing for Oakland. It is similar to the earlier one for the Oakland A's, but it has been reconfigured and enlarged for use by the Oakland Raiders as well. The Raiders and 49er's are talking about sharing a football stadium, which is ridiculous. It seems like both football teams would lose their civic identities if they shared a stadium. It would make more sense to keep both the A's and Raiders in Oakland. I would also like to see a new multipurpose stadium built. I know a good one could be built, and there just isn't the money to build a new stadium for every team right now.
The new stadium will have a capacity of 44,000 for baseball and 60,000 for football. The lower main grandstand will have 19,000 seats and the upper main grandstand will have 23,000 seats. There will be 86 suites, along with a press level for football along the third base line. The baseball dimensions will be 353-397-400-373-330. The left field fence will be 9 feet high, and the right field fence will be 30 feet high, as there will be 26 rows of retractable seats for football stored behind it.
About 4,500 seats will retract behind the right field fence, while an 11,000 seat removable grandstand would be erected each year in August behind the right field wall for football games, as well as playoff baseball games, extending capacity to 60,000.
