Jorge Martinez's agent insists the Catania striker has not been approached by Manchester City.
Lazio have confirmed their interest in the Uruguay international but Catania's sports chief Pietro Lo Monaco has now claimed that City, Juventus, Fiorentina and Roma made enquiries about Martinez in January.
The 25-year-old, whose Catania contract expires in 2011, joined the club in 2007 and has caught the eye this season with eight goals in 14 games for the Serie A strugglers.
But his agent, Daniel Delgado, insists they do not want to entertain any transfer talk until the end of the season as Martinez is concentrating on keeping Catania in Italy's top flight.
"I don't know anything about Manchester City," Delgado told itasportpress.it.
"We have received many proposals but right now we are not talking about anything because Martinez is playing for survival with Catania and it is not right to talk about the transfer market.
"The survival of the club depends on Jorge - if he is fit then Catania could be saved with games to spare.
"Then, if there will be serious proposals in the summer we'll evaluate the most advantageous one for the boy and for Catania."
Martinez has scored 21 goals in 58 Serie A starts over the last three seasons but Delgado believes his versatility makes him an even more attractive proposition.
"He's played in front of the defence in Uruguay," added his agent.
"His strength is that he can play in five or six different roles. His physical characteristics allow him great ease of adaptation."
