South Africa beat top-ranked India by an innings and 25 runs in their series opening cricket Test at Centurion.
Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn took the remaining two Indian wickets on the final morning to dismiss the touring team for 459 in its second innings. The South Africans had amassed 620-4 declared after skittling India for 136 in its first innings.
Sachin Tendulkar finished on 111 not out after yesterday becoming the first player in 133 years of elite Test cricket to register 50 centuries.
The second Test starts Dec. 26 in Durban before the best- of-three contest concludes in Cape Town from Jan. 2. South Africa has won all four previous home series against India.
