Carrera Calibre 16 Valjoux 7750 Rubber Legend Watch , TAG Heuer

Tag Heuer's Tag Carrera was completely distinctive compared to the common chronograph watches of the 40s and 50s. Creater, Jack Heuer, wanted the Carrera watch to provide excellent readability, making its appearance unique. This was achieved by Tag Heuer by printing the 1/5 sec scale on the inner bezel of the Carrera watch. Tachymeter or pulsometer scales then formed an outer ring around the five minute markers, which diverted away from the trend of positioning them in the centre. Thus, Tag Heuer made the Carrera dial look bigger and cleaner.

In the early years of Carrera watches, Tag Heuer used the classically designed column-wheel movements. Among these were the Valjoux, Valjoux 92 and the Landeron 189. It is evident that there were many incarnations of the Tag Carrera. This was inevitable with Tag Heuer, as the watchmaker continually experimented with the looks of its watches. It was an attribute that enabled Tag Heuer and its Tag Carrera to remain in keeping with trends and technology.
