Diego Sanchez

Diego J. Sanchez (born December 31, 1981) is an American mixed martial artist (MMA) with a background in wrestling and Gaidojutsu, system of submission wrestling developed by his longtime trainer Greg Jackson. He currently fights as a welterweight with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Sanchez was the winner of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series after defeating Kenny Florian in the tournament finals. He holds notable victories over Florian, Jorge Santiago, Nick Diaz, Karo Parisyan, Joe Stevenson, Clay Guida, Paulo Thiago, and Martin Kampmann.

In his next bout, Sanchez will meet UFC Hall of Famer and former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes at UFC 135.
