Manchester City have completed the signing of Samir Nasri from Arsenal on a four-year contract after he successfully underwent a medical.
The France midfielder, who had less than a year remaining on his Arsenal contract, played in the club's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend, and trained with the squad as normal on Tuesday morning before travelling to Manchester. The deal is understood to involve a fee of around £25m.
The City manager Roberto Mancini will have to work out how to fit Nasri into a team that already boasts another playmaker, David Silva, and attacking talent such as Sergio Agüero, Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli.
With City gearing up for their first Champions League campaign when the group stage starts in September, Mancini has plenty of chances for squad rotation.
City had already spent around £50m in the summer transfer window on the Argentina forward Agüero, the French left-back Gaël Clichy – also bought from Arsenal – and the Montenegro defender Stefan Savic.
During the August 2010 transfer window their outlay was around £130m on players including Yaya Touré, Silva and Balotelli.
Nasri, who will wear the No19 shirt, will join up with the squad on Thursday, and could make his City debut on Sunday against Tottenham.
